Nursing Home Neglect

Nursing-Home-Neglect

Whether it is for long-term care or short-term recovery, when your loved one is in a nursing home facility, you expect that he or she will receive adequate medical care and attention. Unfortunately, some nursing homes are understaffed and underbudgeted, which can lead to resident neglect. Residents can be severely harmed or even killed if the nursing home staff fails to:

  • inform attending doctors of changes in medical conditions,
  • monitor health and vital signs,
  • suction breathing tubes regularly,
  • take proper steps to prevent skin breakdown,
  • take proper steps to prevent falls, or
  • tend wounds to prevent infections.

Nursing homes are licensed by the state and federal governments and are subject to strict laws and regulations. I am familiar with these laws, and can investigate any potential neglect and determine if a violation occurred. I know how devastating it can be to find out that your loved one was injured because of neglect in a nursing home. All nursing homes and staff members have a responsibility to provide prompt and effective medical care for residents, and if they fail to meet that responsibility, they should be held accountable for their negligence.

If you suspect that your loved one has been injured because of neglect while in the care of a nursing home or long-term care facility, I want to help you. All nursing home residents have rights, and it’s my goal to make sure those rights are respected and upheld at all times.
